Staff Accountant

Position: Staff Accountant


Job Description:

The ideal Senior Accountant candidate will have 5-7 years of experience in an Accountant role within a small or medium sized private company. Experience in transportation services, distribution, or manufacturing is strongly desired. The Staff Accountant is one of 5 members on the Accounting Department team, and will report directly to the V.P. - Finance


Core Responsibilities & Duties:


  •  Performing Payroll activities
  •  Performing Accounts Payable activities
  •  Maintain Fixed Asset Subledger
  •  Performing General Ledger activities
  •  Monthly closing procedures, journal entries, reconciliations
  •  Financial Statements
  •  Assisting with weekly metric reporting
  •  Financial Statement analysis
  •  Perform other related duties as required and assigned



  •  5+ years of accounting experience
  •  Bachelors Degree in Accounting
  •  CPA certification is desired
  •  Experience in transportation services, distribution, or manufacturing is preferred
  •  Knowledge of GAAP and other accounting concepts and experience in their application
  •  Highly organized, strong attention to detail
  •  Strong work ethic, high integrity
  •  Excellent communication skills
  •  Knowledge of reporting tools & other MIS tools
  •  Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel

  •  Interpersonal skills necessary to build effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization
  •  Strong organization, prioritization, project management and consulting skill set
  •  General computer skills - Microsoft Office, Outlook, AS400
  •  Excellent communication and problem solving skills
